The Birthstone Solitaire Necklace sets a single stone on a fine 18K chain, in four sizes from 0.10 ct to 0.30 ct (from $822), adjustable so it sits at the collarbone or a little lower. It is the piece most people mean by "birthstone necklace": light enough for every day, and easy to layer with a longer chain.

Birthstone necklaces with an initial or engraving

For a necklace that carries a name as well as a month, the Diamond Initial & Birthstone Necklace pairs a pavé diamond letter with the birthstone ($1,505), and the Engraved Gold Medal & Birthstone Necklace hangs the stone from a medal engraved with an initial ($1,426).
